okay you guys here is my story.....it might be a lil' long winded, but please bear with me....it's interesting.... well i have been away for 8 years...i stopped when i was 17 and i'm 25 now.
it all started when i became a non baptized publisher at age 14. i was a very good speaker/reader.
the elders were waiting for me to get baptized and encouraged me to do so.

i just wanted to say hi to some people who might understand my frustrations.
i quit the organization about 2 years ago.
i was born into it, and stayed in it for 25 years.
I wanted to play sports, go to prom, party a little, sing in a rock band, have friends to reunite with. These are all things I see other people do, and it frustrates me that my whole youth was consumed by this religion.I keep trying, but no matter how hard I try and make the feelings of guilt go away they just keep lingering.
Some of these things nag at me as well.
I see my brothers who never bought into the cult promises hook, line and sinker like I did, and they now have friends from Grade School. One just got married and he had a handful of grade school friends in his wedding party. They had a bunch of stories to share from the time they were growing up. Kinda hurt listening to that. I'll NEVER have that. It's gone, FOREVER.
But I do have the rest of my life to live. Just applied to UWM for architecture, yesterday. IMO, I'm young and have alot of living to do yet. I have a hightened appreciation of the brief but preciousness of life. Maybe that appreciation would never have been, if it weren't for the 'hard time' served in the cult.

my concerns with this group as with any group is the anger displayed to others.
i was emotionally abused for years for my association to the truth.
Anger, judgement, torment, never feels good, no matter how justified one feels in displaying it. Finding a safe and new way of life will not involve this kind of behavior. Torment from the "world" or torment from the "friends".....it all feels the same. Bad.Peggy
Thanks Peggy for reminding us how it feels when one is just beginning to discover life outside of the JW's. I think sometimes we who have been out for a while forget how 'scary' the outside world can be, and IMHO, we should be conscious to make this place a safe haven for new ones. Making you and other new ones here feel at ease discussing JW "taboo" topics is very important IMHO.
I remember how scared I was first signing up here as a member. And yes, some posts here at first put me off. But eventually I discovered that many of us are in the same boat and deal with the pain of our past lives in a different manner. Eventually most of us work through it, and with time, the harsh edges wear off.

recently, a jw relative tried to discuss my "spiritual well-being" with me.
i have had conversations in the past with this same relative concerning 607 vs 586/587 and 1914. no matter what i said, it went in one ear and out the other.
it was like talking to a brick wall.

I wonder, did you consciously make the decision to show your hand to this relative knowing the consequences?

Brooke, don't beat yourself up girl. You are smart enough to stay out of the JW's, so my opinion is that you're smarter than most. At least 6 million+ people that I know.
Just because you can not put your thoughts into words doesn't make you unintelligent. Staying a JW knowing what you know would.
Q: Of all the Earthly Organizations that Jehovah has used from the beginning of time, what organization still has Jehovah's approval to this day, besides JW's?
Does Adam & Eve, the first marriage performed by Jehovah, still have his approval? Do the 12 tribes of Israel still have his approval? How about when the 10 tribes of Samaria splintered off, do they still have God's approval? The two tribes of Judah, they have the temple in Jerusalem and the presence of Jehovah in the Most Holy, do they still have Jehovah's approval? How about the Jews in Jesus' day? The Jews were the first to be blessed with hearing Christ's words; do they still have Jehovah's approval? Or how about the first century Christian Congregation, did that remain in Jehovah's approval down to our day?
Q: Since not one of these organizations that were blessed by Jehovah could retain his approval, why do you think Jehovah's Witnesses today are beyond losing Jehovah's approval?
Q: Could JW's do anything they want today and never lose Jehovah's approval? Are Jehovah's Witnesses "once saved, always saved?"
Q: Could JW's be guilty of stumbling right hearted ones from failed promises ?
this question seems to be getting thrown around in the earthquake threads, and is asked a lot... so, what is your opinion on why god allows bad things to happen?
